A Study Facilities session

Study Facilities

We welcome everyone who wants to learn more about the museum collection.

The Fashion Museum Study Facilities is the place where anyone can see anything from the Fashion Museum collection that is not currently on display. By booking an appointment via [email protected] anyone -  whether you are a student, a maker, a re-enactor, a researcher or a dress enthusiast -  can view a selection of objects relevant to their own interest. Everyone is very welcome and we do our best to accommodate all requests.

The Study Facilities is a hugely popular service and is usually booked up 6 weeks in advance. In the past three months, for example, 133 people have seen over 1000 objects from the Fashion Museum Collection. We are keen to give more people the opportunity to see the approx. 100,000 objects within the Collection; but in order to do this we need to do undertake some behind the scenes reorganisation work to make sure that everything in storage is located and accessible. For that reason, in 2019 the Study Facilities will be available for appointments from March to May and then September onwards. In the intervening months we will be working on collection storage projects.

We look forward to welcoming you to the Fashion Museum Study Facilities from March 2019 onwards.

Behind the Scenes at the Study Facilities

Join MA Fashion Cultures students from London College of Fashion as they take a peek into the Fashion Museum archives and discover the incredible experience of seeing original examples of historical dress up close at the Study Facilities.
