Lace Knitting Workshop | Events at The Fashion Museum

Lace Knitting Workshop

The date for this event has passed. Please check What's on for current events.

In this workshop you will learn how to look at lace charts and read lace patterns with Amanda Jones, so you can create samples of knitting based on objects in the Lace in Fashion exhibition.

During the workshop you’ll also look at lace knitting from different parts of the world and learn how to make a modern design using an old technique.

Attendees should be able to knit and purl with confidence. If you would like to learn to knit before the workshop there are many groups in Bath you can join, and most of them are free to attend.

Knitting and crochet have been in Amanda’s blood from a very early age. Having learned to knit and crochet while at primary school, Amanda always knew that she wanted to work with her hands.

After getting a degree in fashion and textiles Amanda started to work as a freelance knitwear designer with her work appearing in many magazines over the last thirty years.

Amanda loves to create texture and colour using unusual knitting stitches and patterns, finding inspiration all over the world.

As well as designing Amanda also loves the history behind knitting and has researched how knitting and crochet have evolved over time.

Please bring £5.00 in cash to cover the cost of materials, payable to the tutor.

Tickets available from the Bath Box Office website. Attendees must be able to climb stairs
