"Diana was someone I looked up to. I love all
the dresses and remember seeing her in most of them. I met her once
when she was visiting Stoke on Trent, Royal Doultons in Burslem.
She smiled and shook my hand…a very warm and lovely lady."

ABOVE: "We met Princess Diana at
the Lighthouse AIDS hospice and foundation. She was dressed simply,
but radiated warmth and kindness. She spent a long time talking
with and hugging the patients and their families, and it’s a memory
that I treasure."

ABOVE: "Diana was very special to me. She was
the perfect Humanitarian and role model. I was fortunate enough to
meet her when she was newly married - she and Charles were visiting
the small market town of Tavistock, where I now live, but it was
afterwards on a visit to the tiny Dartmoor Hamlet of Postbridge
that I was lucky enough to meet her - I was staying in the area
with a schoolfriend when we heard a whirring sound and saw a
Helicopter land in a field opposite, we made our way over and to
our delight, out stepped Diana. She immediatly made us feel so at
ease - which I now know was so typical of her, she remarked to my
friend that her dog must have been made nervous because of the
Helicopter - she didn't show any hint of any nerves, especially
when you think of how nervous she must have been, especially at
that young age, to have all that immense pressure on her young
shoulders. I have recorded my memories on a website devoted to
Diana's memory:- http://www.princessdianatribute.internet-today.co.uk/."

"Diana had not been married long when she drove
herself to The Fosseway Country Club to join Prince Charles for
lunch. She was wearing a high neck tartan dress. Prince Charles had
been visiting Duchy property in Somerset."
"I was lucky enough at the age of around 15 to
meet Diana. She had a beautiful suit on. I shook her hand, which
was very cool. She had the most amazing blue eyes and a calm
aura."
"In the 1980s Princess Diana would visit the
shop I managed to hide from the press who followed her everywhere.
I acted as her look out, so she could make her escape. No matter
what time of day she was dressed with style."
Judith Zedner, Bath
"I sang for Diana at the Royal Albert Hall. She
was wearing a fab green velvet suit."

ABOVE " A beautiful woman and some beautiful
dresses! I remember seeing her in person when she visited the
Manchester City Art Gallery - she looked perfect in a tartan suit -
very elegant indeed."
"As a little girl I travelled on a train to
visit my grandpa in hospital. As the train pulled into the station
we noticed crowds had gathered. We joined in the hustle and bustle
and found out that Princess Diana had come to visit. I stood in a
queue and waited my turn to meet this princess. Upon viewing this
woman in utter awe I gleefully said hello, but when I turned back
to my mother I said, " Mummy, she has legs!". Diana had heard my
voice and approached me again saying, " did you think I wouldn't
have legs under my gowns and tiaras?" I shall never forget this
memory."

"I met Diana, Princess of Wales in Dunedin New
Zealand and shook her hand. She was wearing a beautiful royal blue
coat with black trim and a pill box hat with net over her face. A
tall, elegant, stunning woman…." SJD, New Zealand
"I saw Diana at The Spa Hotel and I had my
grand-daughter who had flowers for her. She stopped the car and
took the flowers and said "Let's do a swap, and gave her a big
balloon."
"I saw Princess Diana in Westminster Abbey at a
service of thanksgiving for the volunteers who worked for Dr
Barnardos raising funds for the organisation. I remember her
walking down the aisle in beige and cream, her under slip showing
slightly at the back. She had bare legs, it was a summer day. She
was Patron of Dr Barnardos: I was an Appeals Organiser. I miss
seeing her and hearing about her." Patricia Townson
"In 1985 I was within a few feet of Diana. She
was beautiful in the flesh, as on film". Pat, Surrey
"I was very young when Diana visited the ward on
the hospital I was in. She was a lovely person who wanted to know
about you and your problems instead of talking about herself."
"I used to work for a French fashion company
called Charles Jourdan, based in Knightsbridge, London. Princess
Diana used to come to our offices and buy shoes and matching
handbags (and occasionally items from our ready-to-wear clothing
ranges) and I used to make coffee for her!"
"On one particular visit, she identified a pair
of shoes that she wanted to order for a forthcoming trip.
Unfortunately she didn't order the matching handbag as it had a
transparent section, and she was concerned that people would
realise she never carried anything in her handbags - they were
purely for decoration!"
Sarah Baker, Bristol

ABOVE: "I have pictures of Diana at the opening
of the COUNTRY LIVING show at The Royal Show, Stoneleigh, back
in the 80s - she looking gorgeous in sharp white suit and hat, me
showing her round, with attendant crowds. I sat next to Diana
at lunch and she was beautiful - and totally uninterested in
country topics; when I asked her about the garden at Highgrove, she
replied: "My husband is the gardener"...Conversation about clothes
was discouraged by the hosts, all Country Gents in trad.hats.
However it was a memorable meeting".
Deirdre McSharry, Bath

ABOVE: "I saw Diana at the opening of the Dior
exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York in
December 1996, when she wore the midnight blue 'slip' dress
designed especially for her by John Galliano (one of his first
pieces as Chief Designer for Christian Dior). What I remember most
though, all these years later, was not the dress, but that she was
concerned that the person walking alongside her was about to stand
on the hem of the dress of the girl in front. Diana pointed it out
in such a kind way, with a friendly laugh and a light touch on the
arm."

ABOVE " I was lucky to see Diana in the
'Americas Cup' and 'Hook' dresses. This lovely exhibition brought
back tonnes of memories of waiting for hours in the cold to see
this wonderful elegant woman".
Sarah
"I was lucky enough to meet the Princess after a
performance as a child at the Royal Albert Hall. Something I will
never forget."
Mrs J
"I was a little older than Diana - we all wore
her styles from high street shop copies. It was a lovely time, and
so nice to see this exhibition to remember her."
